Nutty Fudgekins - may as well be here we are as where we are

The orble phenomenon

Does it strike anyone else as odd that time and time again the most popular posts are those discussing various sections of the orble blogging system?

Whether it be discussion of pay or techniques for generating more traffic the blogs about blogs are up there time and time again...which leads me to believe the majority of readers are in fact bloggers themselves looking for ways to increase traffic.
The top of the list is a cut n paste of the email anyone who signs up to orble receives...and it has more votes than anything else on the site...it doesn't contain anything that wouldn't have been found in said email, not to take anything away from the author but i find it curiously ironic that the primary interest of those who frequent here is money...

Blogging offers a vehicle never before seen in human history, free ideas on a massive scale...and yet still $40 a week is a more important issue

Yeah this fact annoys the hell out of me. As bloggers we shouldn't be introverted in the slightest, but rather looking to attract an external audience - that's why you won't find a post explicitly about Orble or blogging or such on MusicTimes - I'm there to write a blog that is interesting to various audiences, not just those trying to scrape a few extra bucks. Of course I'm partially in it for the money - who isn't? - but for the most part I want to excel in my writing skills and create an informative and leading-edge music journalism site.

By the way, you're sort of proving the irony if this post becomes popular .

I make my extra money with betting , so I'm not here just because of money. I like to comment with others about various topics and that's my personal joy .

Finally someone's spoken some sense - I couldn't agree more mate.

What's also got me stumped is that people don't seem to read nor seem to be able to navigate their way around their blogs.

So here are some useful links:

Indeed
the irony was my initial inspiration for the post..my own little experiment as it were.
Alas now that it has been disclosed at the very beginning things may be different....

I suppose different people are here for different things. I know I strive to gain a balance of orble readers and outside traffic, which is why I try post things that orblers can respond to, but that still have enough content that someone coming from google would be interested.

I have to admit that I posted on the $40 topic because I wanted to subscribe to it and see if anyone actually did receive the $40s a week...

i didn't mean to call out that post specifically, merely that that one epitomizes the current trend...

And charles i know exactly what you mean..curious innit

$40 a week is definately a more important issue, but sucks to that, if I wanted money I'd get a real job.

THis is a temporary diversion, a hobby if you will. The few bucks that come as a result is just extra.

Doesn't mean I don't put this thing on a resumé, now thats how I convince prospective employers and thats where orble really... pays off. And by pays off I mean makes money, and by that I mean makes me work and by that I mean it take sup my time...

Hello MattH...

Just by being here I'm helping to prove your theory correct (as Jimbo says) but oh well...
As I said on another post that may be getting referred to here...I'm not here to get paid...I'm here because Orble generously gave me my own rugby domain and that is my pay off.

I'm not in it for the money. I'm in it for the fame.

I am a non-famous journalist and as a NFJ, I get Sweet FA in terms of carte blanche style. I have to write according to the criteria and style of the publication I'm writing for.
Orble gave me the chance to write as me, about Rugby and non-Rugby. Plus as Ahmed says, it looks good on my resume. It's very hard for an NFJ (NFFemaleJ) to break into the Boys Club rugby media.

As for the $40 'scholarship' and ad-click commision... huh?
Votes and comments are a bonus but not the purpose. Not for me at least.
That's my $1.13 worth. Thanks MattH

NuttyF, Blogging can't be about the money- we're talking $40 here, not $400. Bloggers use the word "blog" in their post title because they know it will gain readers and get on the popular blog list. Blogging is a popularity contest for alot of people, who think getting more votes= being popular=being a quality writer.
10. November 23rd 2006 @ 07:01. Jimbo Says:
Ahh but Judy, when you add GoogleAds into the mix, suddenly it becomes about money. People naturally assume more votes=popularity=money, but this isn't how it works. It's not necessarily about how many people you get in (though this helps) which determines how many clicks you get on ads, but rather what type of readers you get in. The less Internet-literate are probably more likely to click on ads, then say those who participate in accumulative-knowledge websites such as Digg or Slashdot.

Jimbo, thanks for exposing my lack of internet knowledge!!!...I don't think I've ever clicked on an ad when reading a blog. I just read the blog.

Music Times wrote... " that's why you won't find a post explicitly about Orble or blogging or such on MusicTimes"

I feel the same way. Couldn't agree more!

You`ll laugh at this... but even If I came here curious about the 40$ if Orble really pays or not... I came to find out a week ago... That Orble pays threw PayPal... and ... don`t laugh... I can`t make a Pay Pal Account, I`m from Romania... so why am I still here???
My friends say I`m crazy... I have some blogs about things that will really be worth a lot of money Personal Development... and the Free To Join Opp. Blog... and the info I put in there could be worth thousands... I payed a lot of money to learn those things... but I still post and give tips... And again... Why??
The answer goes like this: Because I really enjoy this site and the people here... and I think you guys deserve knowing that info... It looks faboulous what is happenning here and because of people like you whith blogs full of meaning and very very interesting posts I will continue to post and update my blogs!!!

Thank you and Have Fun!!!
Wish you the best!!!
14. November 23rd 2006 @ 13:10. Jimbo Says:
Not sure where you got that info, but Orble doesn't pay through PayPal - I get direct deposit straight into my bank account.
15. November 23rd 2006 @ 13:16. Ahmed Says:
Orble pays through pay-pal to all countries not in the US, UK or Australia.
16. November 23rd 2006 @ 19:20. Kams Says:
$40 a week for 8 week so total $320 after two months. That can cover hardly the electricity bill and the time you spent on blogging and researching. That is more of a encouragement element rather then pay off. That's the reason they call it scholarship.

If you stroll around blogosphere, you will see all the high paid blogger blog for two years up. Very few blogger can actually say they live through blogging. That is for of reputation builder than money earner. Aussies very own famous Daren Rowse who live through blogging, said if you start blogging just for money it won't cut. You have to gain quality, credibility before you expect some real outcome. And all those come from seamless blogging.

This has got to be the least interesting post in my blog...and yet apparently it's the most popular.

That says more than i could.
